Palm Springs Arts and Entertainment
Even the magnificent public art of Palm Springs includes works that feature Lucille Ball on a park bench and Sonny Bono, former mayor, keeping watch by a downtown fountain.
Today's celebration of Hollywood includes a number of renowned film festivals such as the Palm Springs International Film Festival, the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films, the Palm Springs Film Noir Festival, and the Palm Springs Native American Film Festival.
In keeping with the walking tradition of downtown Palm Springs, most theatre venues for the film festivals are short strolls from the downtown hotels. One such venue is the Annenberg Theatre located within the Palm Springs Art Museum. The Annenberg Theatre is host to a variety of cultural performances and the Museum a collection of 19th, 20th, and 21st century works focusing on contemporary California art.
Looking for something just a little bit different for that evening's entertainment? There's The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies in the old Plaza Theatre, site of early movie premiers. The Follies are a take on old time Vaudeville with a bit of a twist - the lovely ladies in the chorus line are all over the age of 65!
